MSc Nursing Admission 2025
MSc Nursing: This is 2 years of course with different specializations.
Eligibility: The candidate should be a Registered Nurse, Registered midwife, or equivalent with any state Nursing Council Registration.
The minimum education requirement shall be the passing of a B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
PSYCHIATRIC NURSING
The Psychiatric Nursing course offers specialized training on various factors involved in assessing, addressing, and monitoring the mental health and behavioral condition of an individual. After a thorough assessment of the condition, a registered psychiatric nurse develops a nursing plan of care. Once the plan is implemented, the nurse periodically evaluates its effectiveness, based on which modifications may be introduced.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with various activities related to self-care.
Involving clients in recreational activities.
Conducting regular therapy sessions.
Helping patients regain coping abilities.
Coordinate with other healthcare professionals.
MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING
A professional medical-surgical nurse specializes in offering medical care to individuals preparing for or recovering from a surgical procedure. The course helps you acquire skills such as efficiently in recording symptoms, accessing reactions, and monitoring one’s progress. You will also learn the most effective way to administer medical treatments and examinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administering medications.
Checking vitals.
Running periodic blood tests.
Updating medical records.
Operating medical equipment such as feeding tubes, oxygen tanks, catheters, etc.
Wound care and dressings.
OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY NURSING
An OB/GYN nurse is trained to offer prenatal, postpartum, and reproductive healthcare for female patients. The course offers a thorough understanding of female reproductive health, pregnancies, and childbirth. Once you’ve completed the course, you are eligible to apply your skills in almost any medical setting. For instance, you can work alongside a physician, or even be a part of a family planning center or a community clinic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carrying out routine examinations.
Educating patients on topics such as birth control and safe practices.
Informing patients about various fertility treatment options.
Administer vaccines.
Council and educate pregnant women on prenatal care.
Monitor the health of newborns.
Coordinate with other practicing nurses.
PAEDIATRIC NURSING
A pediatric nurse focuses on providing medical care to children, right from the infant stage to the teenage years. Due to the rapid growth that occurs during childhood, the health of children is distinct from that of adults and therefore requires special care, which a pediatric nurse is qualified to offer. As a qualified pediatric nurse, you may later choose to specialize in a particular field related to child healthcare, for instance, neurology, oncology, anesthetics, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carrying out physical exams and diagnostics.
Acting as communicators with medical staff and the family of the child.
Handing mental wellbeing of children.
Offering counseling when needed.
COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
A community health nurse is responsible for improving the well-being of the communities they serve. This is done by educating them about illnesses, diseases, prevention, and safe health practices. Apart from working in healthcare institutions, community clinics, and schools, these qualified nurses also work in coordination with several NGOs to serve patients with low incomes. A good number of professional community health nurses prefer to serve economically disadvantaged individuals living in rural areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educating individuals on disease prevention and how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Offering in-house treatment for individuals in need. Services offered at home may include pain management, wound care, blood pressure monitoring, medication administration, etc.
Carrying out health screening for diseases/disorders such as obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol levels, diabetes, etc.
Periodically participating in community outreach programs at schools, workplaces, and hospitals.
